Every week at The Plough
Quiz on a Wednesday, karaoke on a Friday, bands on a Sunday, and happy hour every weeknight in between. Here is the shape of a normal week.
WednesdayFrom 7:30pm
Quiz Night
Teams of up to six, £2 a player, with a cash prize and bar tabs to be won. Run by quiz master Rebecca, and the music round still causes arguments.
Friday8:30pm – late
Karaoke Night
Sing loud and sing proud. The one that fills the place — and with a 1am licence on a Friday, it runs on well past closing time anywhere else.
SundayAfternoon into the evening
Sunday Sessions
Live bands every Sunday, free admission, with the kitchen serving roasts from 1pm to 4.30pm. Turn up, eat, stay for the music.
Selected Fridays8:30pm – 11:30pm
Irish Session
Live traditional Irish music with the Southend Irish Association. Singers and musicians welcome — bring an instrument and join in.
Mon – Fri5pm – 7pm
Happy Hour
Two hours of sharper prices across the bar, every weekday evening, to see the working day off properly.
Any nightMain Bar & Games Room
Sport, Darts & Pool
Football, rugby and the big fights on the Main Bar screens, with an oche and a pool table through in the Games Room.

The board by the door
Before it reaches a website, everything at The Plough goes up in chalk. Bands, trad sessions, folk nights, whoever the guv'nor has talked into a Sunday slot.
The board changes monthly and lives just inside the door. If you want the line-up without leaving the house, it goes on Facebook the same day.
One-offs and announcements
What's coming up
Guest bands, Irish sessions, bank-holiday hours and last-minute changes go on Facebook before anywhere else. This is that feed, live.
